Dumas Therapy, Inc. is a leading provider of therapy services. Our mission is to assist every client in living their best life through functional therapeutic interventions. We provide a variety of therapy services including occupational therapy, neuromuscular therapy, neurodevelopmental treatment, sensory integration, and massage therapy. Dumas Therapy utilizes all of these interventions to approach therapy from a global standpoint. We evaluate how muscles are functioning and develop individualized treatment to facilitate or inhibit muscular function. We provide adult services for stroke recovery, general weakness, and hand therapy skills. Dumas Therapy provides pediatric services for cerebral palsy, autism, visual impairment and developmental delay. Our services are provided in school settings, in-home therapy, and out patient clinical settings. Click here for our printable brochure (Adobe PDF format).
Cerebral Palsy:
Our therapist completes a full evaluation for neuromuscular motor responses. This allows us to evaluate muscles that are actively contracting and muscles that are not. We provide a variety of muscle facilitation techniques to encourage active muscle movement. As part of the evaluation, we look at hypertonic muscle tone. The goal is to decrease muscle tone though a variety of muscle inhibition techniques including massage therapy. After getting the tone down, we immediately provide muscle facilitation techniques during the session to teach and promote active muscle contraction.

Autism is a neurological brain development disorder that is characterized by impaired social interaction, communication, and repetitive behavior. Our goal is to promote functional independence with activities of daily living using modified therapy strategies. VI clients require fine motor skills, spatial relations, safety skills, and tactile object identification skills to complete tasks daily at home and school.
Development Delay – Early Therapy Interventions Program
Dumas Therapy “Early Therapy Interventions Program” is designed for children birth to age three. We are experienced in working with patients who require assistance to develop age appropriate motor skills. Neurodevelopmental treatment, and massage for normalizing muscle tone helps to develop key points of movement that originate from head, shoulders, and pelvic motions. Many times parents have questions about their child’s development. A child can be developmentally delayed due to neurological conditions, orthopedic conditions, or obstacles present during birth or delivery. We offer free developmental screenings where parents can talk to therapists about developmental milestones. Doctor referrals for therapy include a formal evaluation, assessment, and treatment. A program of play activities will be designed for parents to use with their child at home complimenting therapeutic interventions. |
